Common questions
Can I deploy in my own cloud?
Yes. Enterprise tier supports VPC deployment — Octomil runs in your cloud account within your network boundaries, fully managed by our team. Contact team@octomil.com for details.
What data do you store?
Only model weight deltas and training metadata (sample counts, basic metrics). Raw user data — text, images, sensor readings — never leaves end-user devices. That's the fundamental design of federated learning.
Do you sign BAAs?
BAAs are available on the Enterprise tier. Octomil's architecture is designed for HIPAA-regulated workloads: no patient data is centralized, only model weight updates are transmitted. Contact team@octomil.com to discuss.
What happens to my data in Sandbox?
Sandbox workspaces are fully isolated. Data is retained for 7 days and workspaces are deleted after 30 days of inactivity. Upgrade to Team or Enterprise for longer retention.
Do you have a SOC 2 report?
SOC 2 Type II is on our compliance roadmap. Our architecture is designed around SOC 2 trust service criteria — org-scoped access controls, audit logging, encrypted transit, and tenant isolation. See our security page for full details.
Can I switch tiers?
Yes. Upgrade or downgrade at any time. Your workspace, models, and device registrations carry over. Contact team@octomil.com if you need to discuss migration from Sandbox to a production tier.
